Welcome to Inis Oirr Island, the smallest Aran Island, off the West Coast of Ireland

WHAT'S ON

What's On:
On the 14th of June we have our annual mass in St. Kevin's graveyard on his feast day. The mass will start at 12 noon.

After the mass, all are welcome to the official opening of the Co-ops's Irish language inititive, "An Seomra Gaeilge" will be launched by Pádraic Ó hAoláin, of Údaras na Gaeltachta. In honour of the day that's in it, we will have music and song, and some light refrestments.

Cré na Cille
We are delighted that the full feature length film adaptation of the celebrated Irish language novel. Cré na Cille will be shown in Áras Éanna Art Centre on the feast day of St. Caomhán.

Cré na Cille, translated as Graveyard Clay, is considered to be the major contemporary Irish language novel and the film has been produced to commemorate 100 years since the birth of the book's author Máirtín Ó Cadhain. Directed by Robert Quinn, Cré na Cille is set in a Conamara cemetery and is a darkly-humorous tale of an intense jealousy and hatred between two sisters which worsens with age and continues into the afterlife.

Des Bishop on Inis Oírr Island
Friday the 15th of June should be a good laugh up at the Art Centre when Des Bishop takes the stage. This great comedienne has generously given his time and energy to raise some laughs and some funds for the Lettermore Boxing Club and for the Inis Oírr Comhrá na nAosach group. You can get tickets from the Box Office in Áras Éanna Art Centre (099) 75150 or from Gráinne at the Co-op Office (099) 75008.
